QUETTA Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani has directed police and other law-enforcement personnel to strictly search people coming from across the border in view of increased terrorist attacks in the country.

He was presiding over a high-level meeting held here on Thursday night to review the law and order situation in the province.

Mir Zafarullah Zehri and other provincial ministers, Chief Secretary Nasir Mehmood Khosa, Home Secretary Akbar Hussian Durrani and divisional commissioners attended the meeting.

Mr Raisani said security agencies and border officials should strengthen security along the border.

He expressed dissatisfaction over the failure of law-enforcement agencies to arrest elements involved in terrorist activities and target killings.

'Strict measures should be taken to bring the criminals to justice,' he said.

He asked senior police officers and commissioners to seek public support in dealing with criminals and saboteurs.

Referring to the closure of educational institutions in the province, the chief minister said the decision had been taken for security of students.

He asked the administration and police to beef up security around educational institutions.
