GUJRANWALA, Jan 19: The police have announced to approach the Lahore High Court (LHC) chief justice and present him a memorandum for an action against an LHC judge who had alleged links with felon Nannu Goraya who was killed in a shootout between police and outlaws on Sunday.

This was disclosed by Regional Police Officer (RPO) DIG Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema while talking to journalists here on Monday. He said that no body was above the law and the judge pointed out by Goraya during interrogation should be investigated.

In his recorded statement, Goraya had claimed that a high court judge had stayed with him in Dubai and had promised that he (the judge) would grant him (Goraya) bail.

He said police had earned a round of applause from citizens over their achievement of bringing a felon back from overseas. Cheema praised his subordinates and termed their achievement “a turning point” while urging them to continue their hard work to wipe out criminals.

He said that outlaws would be arrested at any cost as well as those who harboured them and that they all would be taken to task without any discrimination.

He said that nobody would be allowed to enter government offices or markets along with his private guards.

The RPO said that ‘thana culture’ would be eliminated from this division and all corrupt police officials would be removed.

He said that medical officers involved in issuing fake medico-legal reports would be arrested after an inquiry to be conducted by their respective medical superintendents.

He also warned regional transport authority (RTA) secretary to improve his efficiency otherwise stern action would be taken against him.

DIG Cheema also warned film exhibitors from screening films projecting desperados and felons as heroes. He said that journalists would also be interrogated if they used their pen as a club (gandasa).

He said that illegal grabbing would be eradicated and land grabbers would be treated as proclaimed offenders.
