RAWALPINDI, July 5: An anti-terrorism court remanded on Thursday Lal Masjid chief cleric Maulana Abdul Aziz in police custody for seven days. His daughter Tayyaba Dua, alias Amina Abdullah, was sent to Adiala Jail on remand for the same period.
Maulana Aziz was arrested on Wednesday while trying to flee Lal Masjid in a burqa. Tayyaba was arrested the same day.

Maulana Aziz and his daughter were produced in the court under heavy security. Policemen manhandled some press photographers who tried to take pictures.
AFP adds: “He (Maulana Abdul Aziz) was wanted in 25 criminal and terrorism cases, including plotting terrorist attacks, kidnapping of police and Chinese and snatching of state property,” a security official said.
