LAHORE, March 14: The Supreme Court Bar Association and the Lahore Bar Association on Wednesday suspended membership of six lawyers, who led a convention of pro-government lawyers chaired by Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi.
Lahore bar served a notice and sought reply within three days from Misbah Kokab, Saba Sadiq, M Alamgir, Aslam Zar, Jehangir A Joja and Mian Tabassum.
A separate notice served by secretary Zulfikar Bokhari of the Supreme Court bar to lawyers M Alamgir, Aslam Zar and Jehangir A Joja says that their membership had been suspended and their were required to file a reply.
BOYCOTT: Lawyers in high courts and subordinate courts continued their protest on Wednesday on the third consecutive day against making the chief justice of Pakistan non-functional and boycotted all court proceedings.
Lawyers also set up a hunger strike camp at Awan-e-Adl, which was attended by a large number of lawyers.
Opposition legislators and politicians, including Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Khwaja Saad Rafiq, Liaqat Baloch, Pir Ejaz Hashmi, Zulfikar Khosa, Chuahdry Ghulam Abbas and Raja Ishfaq Sarwar, visited lawyers at the High Court and assured them full support for their campaign. —Staff Reporter
