LAHORE: World Bank President Ajay Pal Singh Banga visited his ancestral home in Khushab district on Tuesday.

During the visit, Mr Banga also examined the revenue records related to his ancestors and also paid homage at the Gurdwara Singh Sabha Khushab.

Mr Banga appreciated the development and administrative measures undertaken at the Gurdwara and termed the performance of the Evacuee Trust Property Board commendable.

ETPB Chairman Qamar Zaman said the board was taking measures in line with international standards for the protection of religious heritage and was ensuring hospitality and the provision of religious facilities for Sikh pilgrims.

ETPB Additional Secretary (Shrines) Nasir Mushtaq briefed him in detail on the preservation and restoration of Sikh religious heritage sites and the facilities being provided to Sikh pilgrims.

A day earlier, Mr Banga visited the Gurdwara Sri Panja Sahib in Hasan Abdal, where he offered religious prayers.

Expressing his satisfaction upon witnessing the beauty of the Gurdwara, he said the ETPB had preserved and maintained the place of worship in its original form with great care and aesthetic excellence.
