RAWALPINDI: The evidence of the senior Deputy Director of Intelligence Bureau, Mr Mohammad Isa, today [Aug 27] concluded before the Supreme Court hearing the Government reference on the dissolution of the National Awami Party… . …[M]r Mohammad Isa informed the court that the Intelligence Bureau had received information on July 26, 1974 from its source that an attempt was to be made on the life of Mr Zulfikar Ali Bhutto during his visit to Quetta… .

Mr Mohammad Isa deposed that on Aug 2 when the Prime Minister was addressing a public meeting a pro-NAP young man Abdul Majid went toward the meeting with the object of assassinating Mr Bhutto. He had a hand grenade in his possession. As the authorities had been alerted the young man was … followed… . On finding that he was being followed, Abdul Majid ... attempted to get rid of the hand grenade which went off. He was … injured and was taken to hospital where he died.
