TAXILA: As many as 52 blood donations were fetched during the blood donation and free medical camp organized by Punjab highway patrolling police (PHP) at the Akhori Patrolling Post in Attock on Saturday.

The event was attended by Attock Deputy Commissioner Rao Atif Raza as Chief guest and DSP Patrolling Fayazul Haq Raja as guest of honor.

On this occasion, both officials also donated blood on this occasion.

The blood donation camp was arranged in collaboration with the Human Welfare Thalassemia district headquarters hospital Attock, led by Professor Dr Maqsood Elahi and his team, collecting donations from 52 donors. A free medical camp was also set up with the support of the Roshan Health Research and Welfare Society Pakistan.

Dr Syed Rashid Ali, along with Dr Maqsood Khan, Principal of Khyber Homeopathic Medical College Mardan, and his team, provided medical services.

Free medicines were also provided on this occasion, benefiting employees and members of the public who underwent checkups and received treatment.

The Deputy Commissioner, DSP patrolling police and representatives from the Human Welfare thalassemia Centre expressed gratitude to all the donors.

They highlighted the importance of their contributions, stating that their donations would directly benefit Thalassemia patients and serve as an ongoing charitable act.

Speaking on this occasion, Attock Deputy Commissioner Rao Atif Raza has said, “We are raising donations to provide

free treatment to children affected by thalassemia and generate public awareness for the treatment and prevention of this disease”.

He was of the view that since the patients often fall under the lower income group category, therefore, its treatment poses huge financial threats and psychological stress to them.
