DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The police on Friday claimed a major breakthrough in the murder case of two traders, who were shot dead during a robbery last Monday.

DSP city circle Hafiz Mohammad Adnan informed a delegation of local trade bodies that suspects involved in the killing of Rana Aslam and Mohammad Javed had been traced, and several arrests had already been made.

He stated, “We will soon share good news with you. Operations are underway to arrest all those involved.”

He emphasised that the broad daylight murder of traders posed a serious test for the police department, adding the police were committed to ensuring justice and would soon apprehend all culprits.

The trader community had issued a stern warning during their protest following the incident, declaring that if the killers were not traced within three days, they would call for a complete shutter-down strike across the city and stage further demonstrations.

OPEN COURT: An open court was held in Darazinda tehsil of Dera as part of government’s efforts to directly engage with citizens and address public grievances at the grassroots level. The session was conducted by assistant commissioner Aamir Zaib. MNA and chairman of the Standing Committee on Defence Fatehullah Khan Miankhel was the chief guest.

The complaints raised ranged from lack of clean drinking water and poor sanitation facilities to inadequate healthcare services, dilapidated roads, and challenges in the education sector.

MNA Miankhel emphasised the importance of public engagement in strengthening democratic governance and ensuring equitable service delivery. He assured the people of full cooperation in resolving their problems.

Assistant commissioner Aamir Zaib directed the officials concerned to take immediate steps for addressing the people’s issues.

Meanwhile, the traffic police launched a crackdown on underage and unlicensed motorcyclists.

A large number of motorcycles were impounded and heavy fines were imposed during the campaign.

According to the police spokesperson, this initiative aims to ensure road safety and reduce the risk of accidents caused by underage drivers and those operating motorcycles without licences.

BLOOD DONATION: As part of the ongoing observance of Police Martyrs’ Week, a blood donation camp was held at District Headquarters Hospital, Tank, to pay tribute to the sacrifices of police martyrs.

The event was supervised by district police officer Shabbir Hussain Shah.
