LAHORE: Veteran politician Mian Muhammad Azhar was laid to rest at a local graveyard after his funeral prayers were held at the Gaddafi Stadium on Wednesday.

Qul will be held at Jamia Ashrafia, Muslim Town, on Thursday (today) at 5:30pm followed by dua (prayers).

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) MNA Mr Azhar was the father of PTI leader Hammad Azhar. Mr Hammad attended his father’s funeral prayers alongside a large number of PTI leaders, workers and people from cross sections of society and political affiliations.

PML-N President Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also expressed their condolences and sympathies with the bereaved family.

PTI leaders Firdous Shamim Naqvi, Farrukh Javed Moon, Shaukat Basra, Mehr Wajid, Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri, Hafiz Farhat Abbas, Faisal Ayub Khokhar, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi’s son Chaudhry Rasikh Elahi and others attended the funeral prayers.

Senior Punjab Minister Marrium Aurangzeb also visited Mr Azhar’s residence twice.
