ISLAMABAD: All candidates of the Alpine Club of Pakistan and the Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Federation (PTBF) have been elected unopposed, the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) said on Saturday.

“All office-bearers of the Alpine Club of Pakistan and the Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Federation have been elected unopposed, as no nomination papers were submitted against them. Consequently, the Election Commission declared their unopposed success,” said a press release issued by the PSB on Saturday.

According to the PSB election commission, Maj Gen Irfan Arshad was elected president of the Alpine Club and Ayaz Ahmed Shugri as its honorary secretary. In the Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Federation, Ijazur Rahman was elected as president while Aleem Agha and Asif Orakzai were elected as vice-presidents.

Meanwhile, the elections of the Pakistan Bodybuilding Federation are scheduled to be held on June 20 at the PSB Coaching Centre, Ferozepur Road, Lahore.

Final lists of the candidates and voters have been issued. As per the lists, three candidates each are contesting for the positions of president, secretary general and treasurer, while 11 candidates are vying for the post of vice-president.

It is worth noting that under Article IX (a) of the federation’s constitution, the category of executive member has been annulled, and therefore, elections for that position will not be held.

The election commission emphasised that the entire electoral process was being conducted in a fully transparent manner, in accordance with the federation’s constitution, relevant rules and regulations, and the National Sports Policy 2005.
