LAHORE: Warning that factionalism can prove fatal to nascent democracy was given by Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto while addressing 35 MPAs from Sargodha district at the Governor’s House here this evening [June 10]. … Mr Bhutto recalled how democracy suffered owing to factionalism soon after the birth of Pakistan. Reappearance of the same disease could again endanger the democratic institutions which have been revived after several years of arduous struggle. — News agencies

[Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies from Washington,] US President Gerald Ford announced … that material on charges of US Central Intelligence Agency involvement in foreign assassination plots would be sent to the Attorney General and Congress but would not be made public at present. … “As I have stated previously … I am opposed to political assassinations. This administration has not and will not use such means as instruments of national policy. However, in fairness, none of us should jump to conclusions as to events that may have occurred in the past.” A 299-page report [by a special commission] on other CIA activities would be made public tomorrow [June 11], President Ford said.
