ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto has assured the Indian Prime Minister, Mrs Indira Gandhi, that Pakistan will continue to work steadfastly for the establishment of durable peace in the sub-continent while taking measures to ensure its own security. In his reply to the Indian [PM’s] letter of March 20 — despatched a few days ago — Mr. Bhutto is learnt to have again emphasised the need for settlement of the Kashmir dispute in conformity with the principles and within the framework of the Simla Agreement. Responding favourably to the Indian [PM’s] suggestion that hostile propaganda should end, Mr. Bhutto is understood to have pointed out that while the media in Pakistan was pursuing policy of restraint, the Indian Government was yet to take necessary steps to ensure cessation of hostile propaganda against Pakistan.

[Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies from Lahore,] eight girls of the Lahore College for Women, were stabbed and injured here today [April 28] by a man who dashed into their special bus just when the vehicle was about to move after the termination of classes. … The assailant, Nisar Gul of Mardan, was arrested and in Police custody.
