ISLAMABAD: The Ethiopian embassy and the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Monday agreed to hold a business forum on April 15 to mobilise traders and investors for the single-country exhibition being organised by the government of Pakistan in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from May 15-17.

A statement issued by the Ethopian embassy said the decision was taken during a meeting between Dr Jemal Beker Abdula, special envoy and ambassador extraordinary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE), and Nasir M. Qureshi, president ICCI, at the Islamabad chamber.

Both sides discussed various matters, including trade relations between Ethiopia and Pakistan, and different modalities to hold a business forum on April 15 at the ICCI.

The ambassador highlighted the strong connection between the Ethiopian embassy and ICCI, recalling their joint initiatives to strengthen trade and investment relations between the two countries.

He briefed the ICCI president about extraordinary business, trade, and investment opportunities in the Ethiopia following the implementation of homegrown economic reforms in two phases undertaken by Dr Abiy Ahmed, Prime Minister of Ethiopia.

The ambassador said the government of Ethiopia and the business community in the country were prepared to host the traders from Pakistan for the single-country exhibition that was coinciding with “Invest in Ethiopia 2025,” a high-level business forum scheduled from May 12 to May 14 in Addis Ababa.
