KARACHI: The Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA) has welcomed a legislation passed by the provincial assembly granting unlimited pecuniary jurisdiction to the district courts of Karachi.

According to a statement, SHCBA President Barrister Sarfaraz Ali Metlo said this move has addressed a long-standing demand of the legal fraternity in Sindh ensuring greater access to justice and streamlining the judicial process in the province.

He also extended gratitude to Law Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar for his commitment and efforts in bringing the crucial legislation to fruition and maintained that it will reduce the burden on higher courts, expedite resolution of cases and enhance public confidence in the judiciary.

On Friday, the Sindh Assembly has passed the Sindh Civil Courts (Amendment) Bill after which all suits and proceedings pending disposal in the Sindh High Court in original jurisdiction shall stand transferred to the courts of the concerned district judge.
