MULTAN: The President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Zaid Bin Sultan Al-Nahayan, has allocated 15 per cent of the U.A.E. national income for aiding development projects in Muslim States and the Third World. This was stated by Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Mohammad, Special Representative of the Ruler of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, while laying the foundation stone of the new fertiliser plant here — a joint venture of Pakistan and Abu Dhabi.

In his address, read out on his behalf by the U.A.E. Ambassador … Sheikh Tahnoon said that his country firmly believed in playing a role in the economic development of the Islamic world in general and Pakistan in particular. The U.A.E. policy stemmed from the desire to participate in economically and tech-nically feasible industrial projects for the advancement of the peoples of developing nations. … He said the project was the first fruitful outcome of the protocol of cooperation concluded between the two countries some two years ago. … He said he was impressed by the industrial and economic progress achieved by Pakistan. … Abu Dhabi holds 30 per cent share and Pakistan the remaining 70 per cent in the Multan project. — News agencies
