RAWALPINDI: City Traffic Police (CTP) has chalked out a comprehensive alternate traffic plan for the convenience of citizens and cricket enthusiasts ahead of the Pakistan vs Bangladesh cricket test matches from 18 August to 25 August 2024 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

A total of 367 police officers and wardens will be be on duty to manage traffic on alternate routes and facilitate public movement during the matches. Information banners about alternate routes and parking have been displayed on major roads to guide the citizens.

Traffic updates will be provided through the official pages and FM radio stations.

The Cricket Stadium issued a comprehensive traffic plan to provide the best traffic facilities during the matches.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Beenish Fatima stated that during the cricket matches, 367 extra officers and officials of the traffic police will perform special duties, including 08 DSPs/Circle In-charges, 40 Inspectors/Sector In-charges and more than 318 traffic wardens and junior wardens.

Special arrangements have been made for the movement of the cricket teams, with alternative routes and five designated parking areas.

A shuttle service will also be provided by the administration.

During the arrival and departure of the cricket teams, the Murree Road will be completely closed from Faizabad to the Double Road.

According to the traffic diversion plan, the traffic going from Rawalpindi to Islamabad will be able to enter Islamabad through the 6th Road and Saidpur Road, while the traffic coming from Ghousia Chowk will be diverted to Farooq Azam Road and Curry Road.

During the match, the Cricket Stadium Road will be completely closed to traffic in both directions from the 9th Avenue intersection to the double road turn.

Traffic from Islamabad’s 9th Avenue will be able to enter Rawalpindi through Faizabad Expressway and IJP Road from Pandora Chongi, Katarian, Carriage Factory and Pirwadhai Moor. Traffic will be able to enter Islamabad from Faizabad via Murree Road.

CTO Beenish Fatima said that during the match, alternate routes will be established on the main highways of Rawalpindi for the convenience of citizens and to keep the traffic flowing on alternative routes.

Awareness banners regarding parking will be displayed to assist citizens.

Real-time traffic updates will be available through the traffic police’s official social media pages and FM radio stations.

She added that CTP Rawalpindi is committed to ensuring the convenience of citizens, the security of cricket teams and and the smooth flow of traffic. She also stressed that citizen cooperation is essential for the success of these efforts.
