OKARA: The Renala Khurd additional district and sessions judge (ADSJ) granted pre-arrest bail to six out of eight suspects, including former provincial minister Samsam Ali Bokhari and his son Hassan Bokhari.

They appeared in the court through counsel in connection with a case registered with the City Renala police under sections 324, 109, 148, and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

The FIR was registered by complainant Aliya Munir Tayibi, a visiting lecturer at the University of Okara, after her husband, Dr Anwaarullah, a faculty member, was shot at and injured in an attempted kidnapping on the campus gate.

ADSJ Qamar Yaseen Nadeem ordered each of the six suspects to furnish a surety bond of Rs50,000, backed by one surety each, until March 8. The suspects, granted pre-arrest bail, are obligated to join the investigation before the designated police official.

CASE: Five people, including one unidentified suspect, were booked for allegedly stealing medicines from the DHQ City Hospital’s outpatient block pharmacy store.

According to the FIR, the store’s locks were found broken during a visit by the hospital pharmacist, Farman Ali Wattoo, revealing the theft of various medicines, worth Rs826,000.

The City A Division police registered a case against Arslan Ahmad, Asad Ali, Abdul Rehman, Amjad, and one unidentified accomplice, under sections 457 and 380 of the PPC on the complaint of the hospital pharmacist.
