MUZAFFARGARH: A vehicle had an accident just before the finishing point in the third phase of the ongoing Thal Desert Jeep Rally that concluded here on Saturday.

Forty-nine men and three women participated in the stock category.

The vehicle involved in the accident was driven by Akbar Sultan and it overturned 300 meters before the finishing line. Both the driver and the navigator were rescued safely.

Police and Rescue 1122 rescued the driver and the navigator and removed the car from the track within three minutes and cleared it.

According to the unofficial results of the stock category, Muhammad Marwat, who started second on the track, reached the finishing point first. He completed the 200km track in 2 hours, 28 minutes and 55 seconds. Muhammad Zohaib reached the finishing point in second place with 2 hours, 29 minutes and 17 seconds. The average time for 196km is 2.5 hours.

The result of stock category vehicles will be compiled and announced tomorrow.

The finishing point for three women drivers was tehsil Chaubara.

The final results will be announced in a function which will be held at Faisal Stadium after the final round.

A large number of citizens thronged the Changa Manga mound to witness the stock category competitions.
