TAXILA: The Attock police arrested five suspects wanted in four murder cases, a police spokesman said on Sunday.
He said Bassal police arrested Zeeshan Ali, nominated in the murder case of Ghulam Shabbir, a native of village Kahal in Jand. Shabbir was shot dead in broad daylight near the Salmanabad railway station on August 29.
Soon after the killing, his relatives had blocked inter-provincial Jand-Kohat road for several hours. A brother of Shabbir was earlier also killed over a land dispute by their rivals a year ago.
The Bassal police also arrested a man who had allegedly axed to death his niece over a marriage dispute in Domeel two months ago. The spokesman said Mehboob had axed to death his teenage niece after she refused to get married against her will.
Separately, Fatehjang police arrested a man who axed to death his brother over a land dispute in village Bjjal on September 10. According to police sources, Mohammad Aslam had a land dispute with his brother Ahmed Khan. After an exchange of hot words with his brother, the supect axed him to death and fled from the crime scene.
Moreover, Attock City police arrested two persons identified as Azan Ali and Zakir Ali for killing Gulfam Hussain, 21, in Meharpura locality over a petty dispute on July 21.
Police traced the culprits through the cell phone data of the victim and picked the two brothers who during interrogation confessed to the crime. Police also recovered weapons utilised in the murder.
