PTI Chairman Imran Khan will shortly preside over an important meeting to formulate a strategy for the release of party leaders arrested in the aftermath of the May 9 protests.

In a tweet from its official Twitter account, the PTI said that the meeting would review the government’s defiance of the Supreme Court verdict on elections, illegal crackdown on party workers, and violation of human rights.

It also said that a plan of action would be drawn for the provision of legal assistance to PTI supporters behind bars and arrangements for their release from unlawful imprisonment. “A detailed review of the health, safety, treatment, and legal rights of thousands of political prisoners under detention will be conducted.”

The party further stated that a strategy to counter the “false narrative being spread by state institutions” would also be formed.
