LAHORE: The Shafiqabad police claimed to have arrested an alleged killer of a young one-wheeler in Rawalpindi.

Identified as Shahnawaz, 16, the deceased was said to be an expert of one-wheeling and a member of a group of youngsters who used to perform stunts on bikes on the roads in the city. The suspect was identified as Jehanzeb.

A police official said Jehanzeb was leading the group of one-wheelers of his locality and he had trained Shahnawaz in this ‘field’. He said a month back, Shahnawaz won the race in the wheeling stunts on a road when several youngsters including Jehanzeb were participating.

The official said Jehanzeb exchanged harsh words with Shahnawaz, which led to a brawl between them. Meanwhile, he said, the suspect called Shahnawaz and asked him to reach his house to end differences. As he reached there on Oct 2, the police official said, Jehanzeb and his accomplices opened fire and injured Shahnawaz and fled the scene leaving him in a pool of blood.

A police team reached the place and shifted him to a hospital where he breathed his last. He said police later lodged a murder case against the nominated person.

During investigation, police traced the location of Jehanzeb in Rawalpindi and arrested him on Sunday, the official said.
