CHARSADDA: Awami National Party and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl held a joint meeting and later staged a rally on Tuesday as a show of power ahead of the NA-24 by-election scheduled to be held on October 16.

The meeting, which was held at the residence of JUI-F leader Mohammad Ahmed Khan, was attended by ANP provincial chief Aimal Wali Khan, PDM’s joint candidate for NA-24, JUI-F’s provincial general secretary Maulana Attaul Haq Darwesh, district emir Maulana Gohar Shah, ANP MPA Shakil Bashir Khan Umarzai, QWP’s Mohammad Hashim Khan, hundreds of office-bearers and workers of both the parties.

The meeting later turned into a rally, which was addressed by Aimal Wali and other leaders. They vowed to defeat PTI leader Imran Khan, who is contesting from the same constituency.

They said they would jointly defeat the former prime minister in the by-election. They said audio leaks involving Imran Khan had exposed him and now the people would reject his way of politics.

They said a rally would also be held in the constituency on October 13 addressed by JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and other leaders of PDM component parties.
