KARACHI: Transporters have met Sindh Information, Transport and Mass Transit Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon and appealed to him to allow them to raise public transport fares after recent hike in fuel prices.

A statement said that the meeting discussed increase in public transport fares, route permits, vehicle fitness and introduction of modern transport facilities in Karachi.

During the meeting, the transporters appealed him to immediately increase the fares of public transport in view of the new petroleum prices.

He informed the transporters that the matter of public transport fares would be taken up in the next meeting of the Sindh cabinet.

He asked the transporters not to increase fares unless a decision was made by the provincial government on the matter.
