CHARSADDA: Police arrested district vice president of Jamiat Talba-i-Islam, the student wing of JUI-F, here on Sunday allegedly for delivering a provocative speech and hurling threats on Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Prang police station SHO Ashfaq Khan registered FIR against Qari Abdul Hameed, JTI’s district vice president, on charges of delivering a speech against the prime minister on March 10 when party workers staged a protest demonstration against detention of JUI-F leaders and Ansarul Islam volunteers during a police raid on the parliament lodges in Islamabad.

According to reports, a video of his provocative speech went viral on the social media after which the Prang police came into action and arrested Qari Abdul Hameed under 124A, 147, 506, 149. Later, the detainee was presented before the judicial magistrate who sent him to jail on judicial remand for 14 days.

Meanwhile, JTI provincial general secretary Adil Shah and other leaders expressed concern over his arrest and demanded his immediate release. He also called a meeting of the student wing to devise the future line of action.

Meanwhile, a drug-addict shot dead his wife in Tangi and in a separate incident a child was killed after being hit by a speeding truck in Rajar area here the other day.

According to Tangi police an ice-addict, Akbar Ali, opened fire on his wife and as a result she died on the spot. Sajjad son of the deceased woman reported to Tangi police that his father Akbar Ali was a drug addict and he shot dead his mother. The Tangi police registered FIR and started investigation.

In the road accident in Rajar area, a dumper truck hit three-year old Hussain son of Ihsan of Sarkee. The child was brought to the hospital by his mother for treatment but unfortunately he could not survive. The Charsadda police have registered a case against the truck driver.
