SWABI: An unidentified woman wearing a face mask looted cash and jewellery from a house at gunpoint here on Saturday night.

Sabaz Ali, owner of the house, told police that an unidentified woman knocked at their door after Isha prayers and when his daughter-in-law, who was alone at the house, opened it she held her at pistol point, collected six-tola gold jewellery and Rs50,000 cash and escaped.

He said that he was in the mosque at that time.

The Zaida police registered an FIR against the woman and have started investigations.

TRANSFORMER INSTALLED: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company has installed 400kv electricity transformer in Swabi grid station to resolve the low voltage problem in the district, said Pesco officials here on Sunday.

They said that 200kv transformer had been removed and shifted to the Chota Lahor tehsil grid station.

The low voltage problem would often irk the consumers forcing them to stage demonstrations. However, the issue has now been resolved with the efforts of ruling party leaders.

CHARS SEIZED: Police arrested three people and recovered about six kilogrammes charas from them here on Sunday.

Chota Lahor city police station SHO Jawad Khan told this correspondent that they had recovered 2.3 kilogrammes charas from one Naseem Khan, a resident of Chota Lahor, and in another raid arrested Imran Khan and recovered 2.3kg charas from him.

Zaida police station SHO Raz Mohammad said they had arrested Shaheen Iqbal of Marghuz village and recovered from him 1.1 kilogrammes charas. Separate FIRs have been registered against the suspects.

PTI CRITICISED: Mohammad Younus, former Topi tehsil naib nazim who recently quit PTI, said on Sunday that the passage of SBP bill had made it clear that the ruling and opposition parties were on the same page to meet the IMF conditionality.

Talking to mediapersons here, he said the PTI leadership was responsible for high inflation and economic mess in the country.
