MOHMAND: Two policemen were killed when unidentified gunmen attacked two checkposts in Mohmand tribal district on Thursday night.

In the first incident, miscreants opened fire on a checkpost in Ekkaghund tehsil, seriously injuring constable Nizam Khan. He succumbed to injuries while being shifted to a Peshawar hospital.

Separately, gunmen attacked the Shakar Ghundi Ghanam Shah checkpost in Baizai tehsil, killing constable Nasir Ali.

The bodies were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Ghalanai, for postmortem.

Later, funeral prayers of the victims were offered at the police lines. District police officer Salahuddin Khan Kundi and deputy commissioner Ghulam Habib also attended the funeral.
