LAHORE: William Wil Makaneole has assumed the position of US consul general in Lahore after the departure of Catherine Rodriguez.
A career member of the US Foreign Service and the US Diplomatic Security Service, Mr Makaneole most recently served as a director at the US National Security Council where he coordinated with all the US government departments and agencies on matters of national security and counterterrorism.
He has previously served in diplomatic assignments in Oman, Yemen, Lebanon, and Central African Republic besides serving in Peshawar in 2017-18.
Mr Makaneole’s multiple assignments in the US included as liaison officer between the US Department of State and the Pentagon where he coordinated humanitarian efforts, stabilisation and embassy security worldwide.
A native Hawaiian, he studied Political Science at the University of Hawaii and holds degrees in Political Science and Administration of Justice.
