CHITRAL: A mock exercise for removing injured from the disaster-hit places and giving them first aid was conducted as a measure of disaster risk management for the disaster-prone village in Upper Chitral on Thursday.
The exercise was conducted under UNDP-funded Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF)-II project on the premises of Government High School Reshun.
The event attracted a large number of the members of civil society and local volunteers including students, who were imparted training jointly by the personnel of Provincial Disaster Management Authority and Rescue 1122.
The field officer of GLOF-II project, Shahzada Iqtidarul Mulk, emergency officer of Rescue 1122 Zafaruddin and Aftab and Ismail of PDMA highlighted the importance of community-based disaster risk management.
They said that intensity and magnitude of the loss in an area hit by catastrophe could be mitigated by making the local people resilient.
Meanwhile, the University of Chitral published the second volume of its journal on linguistics and literature which has been placed in category ‘Y’ by Higher Education Commission due to its quality of the required stature in producing research articles.
In a statement issued by the university issued here on Thursday, it has been termed a milestone. It became possible due to the efforts of the entire editorial crew, the volitional services of the national and international research academics and the steadfast commitment and support of the university administration, it added.
