LAHORE: The alleged incident of rape with a self claimed UK- returned woman had its drop scene on Friday as the ‘victim’ withdrew her charges and solemnised nikah with the suspect.

Earlier, the woman had alleged she had come to Pakistan from the UK six months ago to attend her father’s funeral. She said she was staying at the house of her father’s close friend at Wahdat Colony where his son sexually assaulted her and repeated the crime for three days.

Police registered the rape case against the suspect and later, arrested him.

One of the investigators, Irfan said the complainant was first not ready to have her medical test conducted after levelling rape charges against the suspect and did not come back to police. He said that during the course of investigation, they also found that the woman had provided fake personal details including name, mobile number and identity card number in the application.

He said the woman appeared before the investigating team with her and suspect’s family and withdrew the charges against the suspect.

The investigator said the families had told police that the woman and suspect had contracted marriage on Friday. He said the investigating team also found that the woman was a record holder in some cheque bounce cases registered against her in different police stations of the city after acquiring her real name and ID card.

He said the woman had not visited the UK and she belonged to Multan.
