FAISALABAD: The University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) distributed cheques of the Ehsaas scholarships among 1,500 students on Friday.

Pro Vice Chancellor Dr Anas Sarwar along with the Higher Education Commission-USAID Project Director Azhar Ali and Director Financial Assistance and University Advancement Prof Dr Javed Akhtar distributed the cheques among the students.

Talking to the students, Dr Sarwar said the scholarships would help them excel in life.

He urged the students to devote their energies to acquire knowledge and develop skills that would pave a way for a bright future for them. He said innovative ideas were key to excel in the changing world.

Mr Sarwar said the government initiatives of Ehsaas programme was a hallmark as it was reserved for students from low-income families to enable them to get higher education.

Azhar Ali said Ehsaas programme had special focus on education of undergraduate students, especially girls, from the underprivileged families and areas.

He said under the Ehsaas programme, 50pc quota was reserved for the girls. He said the HEC-USAID project was making all possible steps for provision of quality education to the underprivileged youth.

Dr Akhtar also spoke.
