DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A trailer conductor was killed and the driver suffered serious injuries as three robbers opened fire on the vehicle on the main bypass in Dera Ismail Khan.

The robbers looted Rs0.15 million and fired gunshots at a police mobile van before fleeing.

A police official said a trailer carrying cement bags was on the way to Punjab from Kohat when armed robbers stopped it in the limits of the University police station and snatched Rs0.15 million cash from driver Luqman, conductor Shahbaz and fellow driver Usman.

The three offered resistance to the robbers, who opened fire on them leaving the conductor and driver injured. The injured were shifted to a local hospital, where Shahbaz died.

The conductor’s body was handed over to his family after postmortem.

The police booked three robbers for murder, attempted murder and robbery.
