ISLAMABAD: Iran’s Ambassador Seyed Mohammad Ali Hosseini on Tuesday said that promoting relations with Pakistan was a key priority of Tehran’s foreign policy.
He said this in a statement issued here on the occasion of the 42nd anniversary of Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution.
“After the Islamic Revolution in Iran, the value and importance of friendly and brotherly neighbouring country of Pakistan increased more than ever, and the promotion of relations became one of the priorities in the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he said.
The envoy said that Iran in its external relations was pursuing the ideal of dignity.
He said Tehran was extending the hand of peace and friendship to all free and right-seeking nations in the region and beyond.
Ambassador Hosseini said that the challenges facing Iran included paying cost of following the revolution’s just and right-seeking approach.
This approach of the revolution and its ideology, he said, did not go down well with the “supremacist and oppressive powers”, which left no stone unturned to hurt Iran by imposing harsh sanctions, applying maximum pressure, pressurising neighbouring countries against maintaining normal bilateral ties with it, withdrawing or not fulfilling provisions of JCPOA and assassinating Iranian intellectuals.
He said the people of Iran were determinedly striving for the betterment and prosperity of their country and they stood against unilateralism and external pressure as well as corruption and injustice.
