NORTH WAZIRISTAN: An army soldier was martyred and two sustained injuries when militants attacked a security post on Bannu-Miramshah Road in North Waziristan tribal district on Monday night.

Officials said militants opened fire at the post near Khadi village, which resulted in the martyrdom of Naik Nishan Ali and injuries to Hawaldar Serfaraz and Sepoy Shaheed. They were shifted to a hospital in the area.

The security forces cordoned off the area and conducted a search operation but no arrest was made.

This was the second attack on the security forces in the area within a week.

Earlier, security forces came under attack in Manzerkhel area near the Afghan border, with a soldier embracing martyrdom and two receiving injuries.
