KARAK: Police claimed to have arrested three alleged kidnappers after villagers foiled their attempt to kidnap a young man in Latamber area of Karak district.

Police sources said on Sunday that a group of kidnappers tried to kidnap Zainullah, a resident of Ahmadabad, but the local people rescued him and the kidnappers managed to escape.

Police launched a search operation and arrested three alleged kidnappers identified as Atiqur Rehman, Sadiqullah and Saifullah.

They were shifted to unknown location for interrogation. Latamber police station registered a case against them.

Meanwhile, a young man was shot dead and a woman received bullet injuries in Chatta Banda area of Takht-i-Nusrati.

Police sources said that members of a group opened fire at the house of their rival family in Chatta Banda. As a result, a young man identified as Saleem was killed on the spot. A woman of the family also received bullet injuries.

The injured woman was shifted to tehsil headquarters hospital in Takht-i-Nusrati. The doctors said that she was in precarious condition.

Police registered FIR against the attackers and claimed that the slain man was wanted by police in two murder cases.
