ISLAMABAD: The commission formed to revise Islamabad’s master plan has prepared by-laws for major astride roads in the capital’s rural areas.

The 13th meeting of the commission was held at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) offices on Tuesday and discussed various agenda items.

Sources said the commission finalised bylaws for seven major astride roads: Islamabad Highway, Murree Road, Lehtrar Road, G.T. Road, Park Road, Kohata Road and Fatehjang Road.

The commission also finalised by-laws for wedding halls, marquees and schools, sources said.

The meeting was chaired by chief commissioner and acting CDA chairman Amer Ali Ahmed.

During a previous meeting, the commission finalised by-laws for commercial buildings, increasing the number of storeys in markazes and industries and trade centres.

The commission is supposed to complete its recommendations on necessary by-laws and a consultant will be hired later to carry out a comprehensive revision of the master plan from 2020-2040.

The meeting was attended by commission members, including Kurram Farid Bargatt, Suleman Mansoor, Naveed Aslam, Ali Asgher and Nayab Hassan Gardezi.
