KARACHI: A judicial magistrate on Monday recorded the confessional statement of a suspected hitman belonging to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London in explosives and illicit weapons cases.

Police claimed to have arrested the suspect, Raeesuddin alias Mamma, on March 26 and the next day they obtained his remand in explosives and illicit weapons cases. Police had claimed that he was affiliated with the MQM-L and was a notorious target killer involved in several high-profile cases.

Thereafter, the investigation officer had also obtained his remand in around 15 cases, mostly those of murder of police officials.

The IO produced the suspect before a judicial magistrate (South) and moved an application to record his confessional statement under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code in two cases recently lodged against him at the Nabi Bux police station.

After completing legal formalities, the magistrate recorded the statement and the suspect confessed to his involvement in several cases of targeted killing.

Meanwhile, the administrative judge of the ATCs, Karachi, sent the suspect to prison on judicial remand in around 15 cases till May 5 and directed the IOs to submit investigation reports.
