PARACHINAR: A resident of Kurram Agency who was arrested on charges of drug pushing a few days ago died in Bannu prison under mysterious circumstances, the mother of the deceased said here on Friday.

Talking to journalists at the local press club, the mother of Sher Afzal alleged that her son was tortured to death in police custody. She said that Afzal, a resident of Ziran Village, was on way to Parachinar when a Moharar of the political administration arrested him at a checkpost five days ago on charges of carrying drugs.

The woman said her son was transferred from Parachinar to central jail Bannu, adding her family was informed that Afzal had died in custody and that they should arrange ambulance to shift the body to Parachinar.

She said her son bore several marks of violence, adding the body was shifted to hospital where doctors also confirmed violence on it.
