BRICS declaration signifies no change in policy towards Pakistan: Chinese ambassador

Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong on Wednesday assured Pakistan that nothing new has been demanded of it with respect to the recently-adopted BRICS declaration against terrorist groups.

The leaders of the five emerging market powers — Brazil, Russia, India China and South Africa — named militant groups allegedly based in Pakistan, including the Haqqani Network, Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-i-Taiba, as a regional security concern for the first time on Monday and called for their patrons to be held to account.

"The BRICS declaration mentioned organisations which are already banned," Weidong observed, adding, "There has been no change in Chinese policy regarding Pakistan."

Praising Pakistan's efforts against terrorism, Weidong said that China fully supports Pakistan's stance on terrorism. "Pakistan and China are in constant contact regarding regional challenges." he said.

He also said that Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif's upcoming visit to China expected to take place later this week is in the context of the BRICS declaration and the United States' new Afghan and South Asia policy.

No Sir, instead of acknowledging Pakistan's tireless effort the time unlike Goa, leaders of BRICS for the first time named Pakistani groups as a regional security threat & called for action & also demanding immediate end to violence in Afghanistan. Our dearest friend is a signatory at home. This should be unacceptable & Pakistan should take serious note & raise the issue.

Dont liesten to anybody and just do it for Pakistan's benefit. Your foreign minister said we need to take steps to stop these groups ...... you must do it. Dont do it at behest of USA, China ,India... do it for your own people. These groups have created more problems then solutions for Pakistan. World community is going to question you more frequently.

Pakistan has a false belief that China is a friend. No - China is merely the enemy of the enemy. China is gradually expanding its footprint in Pakistan - the same salami slicing tactics and the military and government of Pakistan do not sense the danger of this. Be prepared for East India Company version 2. Chinese military is already on Pakistan's soil. No soverign country worth its name will allow such a a thing unless there is a calamity.

From the very first day Nawaz Sharif took over in 2013, there was an intint by all the stake holders that there should be a full time Foreign Minister in Pakistan. The present day situation seems to be the aftermath of the absence of a full time foreign minister. NS for some unknown reasons kept this seat vacant. As a result, Sartaj Aziz and Fathmi could not represent with full confidence Pakistan on various forums in the world. The result is evident.

There are still a few militants groups active in Pakistan, which Pakistan acknowledge.Pakistan army and security agencies have been combating militant networks for the last two decades resulting loss of 70,000 Pakistani precious lives.Most of the militants are trained in Afghanistan. The world should acknowledge sacrifices of Pakistan military and its security agencies, which helped Pakistan cleared more than 90% of its territory. Hundreds of militants have been killed, hundreds of them have surrendered and hundreds of them have fled to Afghanistan.

china is playing double game, making pakistan to fight india, and at the same time they are doing more and more business with india. Look how they made settlement with india on docklam issue. India on the other hand knows this very well as china never helped pakistan during any war against india. At the end, it is the Paksitan who is looser, india and china are gaining day by day, and the gap between Pakistan to china and india is becoming more and more.

This is the fire spewing dragon, trying to befool Pakistan. One should not forget China back-stabbing India in 1962. The same thing may happen to Pakistan as well. As sounded by Dawn's editorial, Pakistan must take BRICS declaration seriously without falling as a prey into Chinese machinations.
