ISLAMABAD: Senior journalist Syed Mehdi Shah passed away in a local hospital on Friday night. He was 68.

He was laid to rest at the Media Town graveyard after funeral prayers held at Imambargah Baltistania, Asghar Mall, on Saturday.

He is survived by his widow, four sons and one daughter Hailing from Gilgit-Baltistan, Mr Shah shifted to Rawalpindi in the 1960s and after completion of education joined Radio Pakistan.

He served as the news editor in Radio Pakistan and a number of newspapers, including the daily K-2, which has most of its circulation in Gilgit-Baltistan .

A large number of Mr Shah’s friends, colleagues, relatives and others attended his funeral.
