HYDERABAD: Three men were killed while another was injured in a road accident at the Hatri bypass near the Chang Goth road late on Thursday night within the jurisdiction of Hatri police station.

Hatri police station SHO Basheer Ahmed Mallah said that a speeding truck hit a moving trailer from behind, causing death of three men, including two livestock traders and a cleaner of the truck and injuring the truck driver.

The truck, he said, was carrying seven buffaloes to Karachi from the interiors of Sindh. Four buffaloes were also killed and another was injured in the accident. He attributed the accident to reckless driving of the truck driver who was nodding.

The bodies and injured man were taken to Liaquat University Hospital (LUH) Hyderabad where dead were identified as Waheed Sarki, 50, (trader), Mohammad Rafique Pathan, 35, (trader), and Nadir Khan, 30, (cleaner). Seriously injured truck driver Ashfaque was referred to a hospital in Karachi after initial treatment at the LUH, police said.

Buffaloes were handed over to an acquaintance of Waheed Sarki, they said. Police have impounded the truck and trailer while the trailer driver fled.
