KARACHI: Youngster Mohammad Asad produced another brilliant performance with bat and ball as Dawood Sports shocked PIA Colours by three runs in an exciting finish to the Naya Nazimabad Ramazan Cup match at the Lawai Cricket Stadium here on late on Friday night.

Asad, who had represented Pakistan at the ICC U-19 World Cup this year, cracked 55 off 32 deliveries with aid of five sixes and four boundaries. He later took two wickets for 35 runs to clinch the man-of-the-match award.

Put into bat, Dawood Sports posted 173-6 in 20 overs. Besides Asad’s contribution, opener Arsalan Bashir slammed five boundaries and two sixes in a 29-ball knock of 45, while Ahmer bin Nasir made 28.

Slow left-armer Rafay Safdar bowled superbly to grab four wickets for 29 runs in four overs.

PIA, in reply, was restricted to 170-7 in 20 overs. Anwar Ali scored 37 off 40 balls with the help of two sixes and one four. Shaharyar Ghani contributed 35 in 34 balls with three fours and one six.

Off-spinner Faisal Tahir took two wickets for 22 runs.
