TOBA TEK SINGH: Brick kiln workers ended on Saturday their sit-out outside the district labour offices complex after two days following their leaders talks with Assistant Commissioner (AC) Muhammad Shafiq.
The AC assured them that a meeting of representatives of kiln workers and owners would be called in the DCO office to resolve the wages issues.
Earlier, Bhatta Mazdoor Union district president Baba Nazir Masih and general secretary Muhammad Shabbir had announced a hunger strike camp to protest owners’ refusal to pay them the notified wages.
After their announcement, the AC and District Officer Saeed Dhillon held talks with them.
RAMAZAN BAZAARS: The district government will set up 42 fair price shops in the district in Ramazan.
This was informed in the district Ramazan bazaar committee meeting held on Saturday.
Five Ramazan bazaars will also be set up where commodities will be sold at reduced prices. An agriculture fair price shop and a utility store will also be set up in each Ramazan bazaar.
Up to 266 metric tons quota of sugar has been arranged for the district and sugar will be sold at Rs55 per kg while a 10-kg flour bag will be available at Rs290.
