15-year-old Indian girl dies after being raped and set on fire

NEW DELHI: Police say a 15-year-old girl who was raped and set on fire this week has died in the New Delhi hospital where she was being treated for severe burns.

Uttar Pradesh state police constable Yadram Singh says the girl succumbed to her burns early Wednesday.

Police have arrested a 20-year-old man and charged him with raping and attempting to burn the girl to death Monday in a village outside of New Delhi. The girl was taken to the hospital with burns over 95 per cent of her body.

The attack was just one of several recently reported cases of rapes of women or children in India ─ underlining the persistence of such violence despite a public outcry three years ago that led to stronger laws against sexual assault.

dont tar with same brush everybody of certain country..just like muslims dont like to be judged as terrorist by all western public..dont judge indian ppl as rapist etc..there is bad ppl in every community..no race is saint...all have good and evil...we judge ppl individually not by race country religion skin color.....btw im pakistani..

It's a common problem of the two countries..we should avoid hitting at each other and rather console and fight together against these issues..May poor girl rest in peace and the culprit gets brutal punishment.

What the hell is wrong with the men of India? Why do they need stronger laws to stop them from raping little girls and SETTING THEM ON FIRE? The entire country should be outraged and hunting down the sick deviant who did this. These are the actions of monsters, not men. That it has happened more than once is evidence of the most basic failure of a culture. Anyone who speaks out to defend Indian men at this point is part of the problem. If you are an Indian man who would not do this, then do something about this!
