BAHAWALPUR: Disappointed with their leadership, some of the activists of the movement for the restoration of Bahawalpur province along with the support of minorities of Muttahida Mahaz on Monday announced revival of their campaign.

At a press conference, Qari Moonis and his colleagues in the presence of minorities representatives criticised the leaders, who, they said, went underground after defeat of their candidates in the 2013 election. They also regretted that PML-N MPs from the Bahawalpur division after their party’s electoral victory forgot demand for the province.

They said the PML-N had made commitment to accept the demand as the party during its previous term in Punjab had adopted a resolution for restoration of the Bahawalpur province.

They announced that the workers would themselves launch a protest movement against the government for acceptance of the demand.

Leaders of minorities Mahaz namely Naeem Esa, Kashif Tariq from Islamabad, Khurram Shehzad from Lahore and Anjum Yaqoob Bhatti of the Christian League, Lahore, announced their support for the demand.

The Christian leaders also raised their voice for the rights of the minorities. They said the minorities were being discriminated against so far as jobs were concerned.
