TAXILA, Dec 9: The employees of Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco), Taxila, Wah Cantonment and Hassanabdal on Monday kept their offices shut to register their protest against alleged highhandedness of an official of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

The FIA official had allegedly slapped across the face of an official in a meeting held recently at the Iesco head office in connection with meter reading.

They warned that if the official was not brought to justice they would continue their protest.

Holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the incident, the demonstrators, led by the union’s divisional chairman Syed Sammar Shah, gathered outside the local Iesco office early on Monday morning.

The protesters included technical and non-technical staff of all three sub-divisions.

Consumers, however, had to bear the brunt of strike as it suspended routine work at all offices including officer of superintendent engineer, executive engineer, assistant engineers, sub-divisions, customers services centres and revenue offices.

They came to rectify electricity bills had to return empty-handed.

Different SDOs of the sub divisions also participated in the protest rally to express their solidarity with the protesting staff.
