KARACHI, Aug 20 A blazing knock from opener Faisal Javed guided Omer CC to a crushing nine-wicket win over Karachi Gymkhana in the 25th Karachi Gymkhana Bahria Town Ramazan Cricket Festival here at the KG Ground on Friday.

Faisal hammered eight boundaries and four huge sixes in scoring an undefeated 72 off only 33 deliveries as Omer CC overhauled hosts Karachi Gymkhana's modest total of 119 in just 12 overs.

Fittingly, Faisal finished the Group 'D' match by lifting leg-spinner Imran Afzal for a six.

Nasir, a Pakistan discard, made 34 off 25 balls with the help of four fours and one six in an opening stand of 88 with the dominant Faisal. Nasir also held two catches earlier in the match.

Medium-pacer Asif Raza was the pick of Omer CC's bowlers with three for 19 after Karachi Gymkhana won the toss and opted to bat first.

Summarised scores

KARACHI GYMKHANA 119 in 20 overs (Sohail Samana 27, Bilal Ashraf 24; Asif Raza 3-19, Adnan Kaleem 2-17, Jamshed Ahmed 2-21); OMER CC 124-1 in 12 overs (Faisal Javed 72 not out, Nasir Jamshed 34).
