KOHAT, March 31: A policeman was injured when unidentified armed persons attacked a party of law enforcers in Jungle Khel area here on Sunday.

Officials said that a police party was patrolling the area in routine when the assailants opened firing on it. A policeman identified as Havaldar Mahmoodul Hassan was injured in the attack, they added.

The police party retaliated to the attack and exchanged fire with the assailants, however, they managed to escape. The injured policeman was shifted to KDA hospital for treatment.

Police arrested two suspected persons during a search operation, conducted in the area after the incident.

Meanwhile, the bodies of three men, who were kidnapped five days ago, were found in Jandi Darsamand area of Hangu, police said on Sunday.

The victims identified as Moin Khan, Hidayat Shah and Naeem Rehman were kidnapped by unidentified persons from Hangu last week. Sources said that the victims had no enmity with anyone.

Also, two persons were killed allegedly by their rivals in Jungle Khel locality of Kohat on Sunday. The killed men were identified as Kashif and Irshad. Police registered a case against some accused nominated by Ziaullah.

Meanwhile, a woman was shot dead allegedly by her brother-in-law in Bosti Banda area in the limits of Saddar police station on Sunday.

Khayal Baz told police that he heard a gunshot outside his room in the house and rushed out. He said that he saw his wife Yasmeen lying in a pool of blood. He alleged that his brother Gul Khanan killed his wife and managed to escape.

Saddar police station registered a case and launched search for the accused. —Correspondent
