The Spelling Bee Islamabad Regional Championship kicked off at the Islamabad Club Auditorium on October 11, 2010, on an exceptionally beautiful morning as it had rained the night before.

The first day started with our youngest Spelling Bee gurus, that is teams from the age group 9-11. A total of seven pools were covered on the first day, with 11 teams in each pool. All the teams were very well-prepared, making the competition all the more exciting, with ties between two to three schools at the end of the initial two rounds for almost every pool, the Sudden Death Round would, in many instances, go on for quite some time.

The second day of the competition saw participation of the rest of the teams in the remaining four pools and the Win the Bee or the elimination round for the 9-11 age group. The results came out with Saad Ahmad from Roots School System as the champion and Momina Iftikhar from Bahria College as the first runner up and Bakhtawar Ijaz from Modernage Public School as the second runner up.

The judges for the 9-11 age group were Mrs Farzana Anwar, Mrs Shaneela Raja, Ms Shamim Ehsan, Ms Samina Javed, Ms Naheed Fatima, Ms Bismah Hanif, Ms Sumaira Saleem and Ms Sara Bano.

The morning of the October 13, 2010, saw teams for the more senior age group of 12-14.
