LAKKI MARWAT: The Certified Teachers Association (CTA) here has demanded of the government to stop deduction of conveyance allowance from salaries of teachers during the summer vacation.
The demand was made at a meeting held here on Thursday with Mohammad Yaseen in the chair. Besides CTA office-bearers a number of teachers attended the meeting, which expressed concern over deduction of allowance from their salaries during the three-month vacation.
“The teachers perform polio duty and other tasks assigned to them by the government during the summer vacation and as such deduction of conveyance allowance is unjustified,” said Mr Yaseen.
He said that the government closed schools for students during summer, but teachers remained engaged in performing different official tasks.
“The management of high and higher secondary schools starts conducting summer camp activities at their respective educational institutions from Sept 1 to engage students in curricular and co-curricular activities under the supervision of teachers,” said another teacher Yousaf Qanooni.
He claimed that the teachers of high and higher secondary schools attended their institutions during August, but they were not paid the conveyance allowance.
DEMAND: Residents here have asked the local government and district administration to conduct spray in cattle markets as a preventive measure against Congo virus.
Talking to mediapersons here on Thursday, a group of people said that a large number of animals were being brought to the local cattle markets for Eidul Azha.
They feared that Congo virus might spread in case the livestock department failed to put in place preventive measures.
They said that spray should be conducted in the local cattle markets in Lakki, Naurang, Landiwah and other towns.
