KARACHI: An interesting question and answer session made the otherwise formal trailer launch of an upcoming film, Bachaana, an interesting event at a hotel on Tuesday evening.

Replying to a question about the film’s storyline being similar to a recent Indian blockbuster Bajrangi Bhaijaan, (since it’s about an Indian girl helped in her life by a Pakistani boy) director of the film Nasir Khan jokingly said: “We have helped the girl grow up and are now returning her.”

Mr Khan said he had shot the film in Mauritius so that he could have control over the actors’ schedule. He said it took him three years to complete the project.

Before the launch of the trailer, producer Rizwan Saeed said his team had worked diligently on the film and hoped that people would come and watch it.

Actor Adeel Hashmi lauded the hard work that the director and producer had put into the venture. He said he was surprised when the two came up to him with the script because he had not done such a character before. He said he had to make it doubly sure that they wanted him to do that part. He claimed people would have a “pleasant shock” to see him in that character.

Actor Mohib Mirza praised Nasir Khan’s talent. He said he liked the story when it was narrated to him. Like Mr Hashmi he too felt that he had not done a character like this before, which was an opportunity for change.

President of the Hum TV Network Sultana Siddiqui appreciated the fact that films were being made in Pakistan and that there were people who were encouraging them. She said she would support any project that had a good storyline. She also touched upon something that did not have to do with the trailer launch. Referring to the late start of the programme, she said the young ones should learn to respect time because it would help them get disciplined in life.

Chairman of Eveready Pictures Satish Anand said he was happy that the film would be released on Feb 26. He acknowledged the younger generation’s interest in filmmaking in order to celebrate Pakistani cinema, and thanked them for making that vision possible.

After Mr Anand’s address, the trailer was shown.

Actress Sanam Saeed, who is playing the part of the female lead, an Indian girl, in Bachaana, recalled that her first television show was with Nasir Khan and Rizwan Saeed, therefore she was glad that her first film was with them as well. She called the movie “easy, breezy, cheesy romantic comedy with a bit of adventure”.
